That wicked separation wall

Subject: THAT WICKED SEPARATION WALL

When I read your "Israeli Separation Wall hurts farmers  " (3 January 2004) I thought how much pain these fences may cause, so I asked myself, is it something wicked or something inevitable in a real world?

Such a separation wall or security fence comprises many sections, totaling scores of miles. Some sections are concrete, others sheet metal. The barrier is three layers deep in parts, fifteen feet high and surrounded by razor wire. The area around it is lit by spotlights at night, monitored by cameras, motion detectors and magnetic sensors, and patrolled by armed guards with attack dogs........
But enough of whining about the US border with Mexico. It is simply aimed at keeping illegal immigrants out. It is not wicked but inevitable.
