Dear Sir,
Re: Your article 'Don't Blame Arafat!', by Dave Hirst,
published July 17, 2004
Again, your newspaper stares at the truth and interprets a lie.
When will The Guardian finally face up to the fact that a corrupt and
violence-based Arafat-led regime has deprived both the Palestinians and
Israelis of any hope of reaching a pragmatic peace?
When will your paper contribute by honestly reporting that Arafat has been
a hindrance to Palestinian progress for decades?
When will your paper report that 'democratically-elected Arafat has, in
fact, only been elected once in 35 years?
When will your paper report that the Palestinian Authority is not a
democratic body, but an Arafat dictatorship?
When will your paper report that Arafat has deliberately sown chaos and
anarchy within Palestinian society, just as he has deliberately planned a
terror campaign against innocent Israelis?
I know the answers to the above questions. It will be when your editorial
board is replaced by one prepared to report the facts, and not hide behind
a distortion of the truth.
