Letters to Editors

Letter to the Editor: Palestinian Authority's Lose-Lose Solution

Irish Letter: Gaza Flotilla Is NOT Humanitarian

Letter in the Washington Post re: Saeb Erekat's Op-ed piece

Letter to THE TIMES re: Israel Bashing

Letter in Jerusalem Post: We too can help Gilad Schalit

To the Scotsman: Were killed or Assassinated?! Terror, or state terror?

Isn''t it curious how language heats up by several degrees when the deaths of terrorists in Judea, Samaria and Gaza are reported, and when the defence forces of Israel are involved.

To: The Daily Telegraph: different approaches to the treatment of stone throwers

March 18, 2010

To The Telegraph: 10,000 British passports issued fraudulently, including to al-Qaida terrorists

February 26, 2010
...the sinister connotation attributed to the supposed photocopying at Ben Gurion is difficult to understand while no adverse comments are made about routine photocopying in Dubai, as evidenced by the photocopies of passports and personal details of the suspects that have been published worldwide...

To the Dundee Courier: Hamas regime is strangling life out of Gaza

Published in the Dundee Courier - Jan 5, 2010
As Perthshire pensioner Alison Philips continues to attempt to get into Gaza, perhaps she will reflect on the Hamas terror regime that is strangling the enclave, and the 60 years of Palestinian complicity in the causes of their own despair.

To The Sunday Herald: Who are the war criminals?

January 10th 2010
Hugh Humphries suggests Israel cannot be absolved of responsibility for “acting in a legal, civilised, humane manner towards the Palestinian people” (Letters, December 27). He must now be aware that Israel did exactly that, and if he calls it “war crimes”, then the allies in Iraq and Afghanistan are guilty of the same, especially when these two countries pose no existential threat to the West, unlike Hamas vis-a-vis Jerusalem.

To the JPOST: Acting Together

published: November 3rd 2009
... Take-A-Pen submitted to the UN its global petition, endorsing its earlier Open Letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, headed "Hamas Leaders to Trial for War Crimes." This was not a letter and petition from Sderot. We were proud to be together during the submission, and young residents of Sderot held high the first pages of Take-A-Pen''s letter and petition, which has been signed by 90,000 people from around the world...

To the WSJ - Palestinian Abuses Greated with Silence

by Michael Horesh, November 2009
...The reaction of the world, led by Amnesty International, has been engraved in a steel box of silence. Another lesson on Europe''s ongoing hypocrisy in the name of short-term expediency...

To the Jpost: The truth about Goldstone is even worse

Friedmann’s criticism is very serious but the truth about the Goldstone report is even worse, as the following corrections and additions may add to prove.

To the WSJ: U.N. investigator suppressed undesired evidence?

Letter sent on October 5th 2009. Not yet published.

To the BBC: Quoting ‘Human Rights Watch’ - is NOT impartiality

One of Goldstone’s two favorite sources, the Human Rights Watch is also a controversial one, because Goldstone is senior Member of this greoup, but he doesn’t tell this fact to his readers...

To the JPost: Kafka’s work of fiction now sees life

...They found anecdotal and uncorroboratable evidence, as required...

To the JPOST, RE: Board chief handed a PR gift to Israel's enemies

LETTER to NYT's new Public Editor - Mistaken Numbers - and NO "judenrein" again

Follow-up LETTER of June 28, 2009 to NYT ''s newly appointed Public Editor (see below), Re: our previous letter to the Letters'' Editor: "Fictions of Tony Judt"

LETTER to the NYT Letters' editor

sent on June 25, 2009 regarding:
Fictions of Tony Judt - Re: ''Fictions on the ground'' - June 22, 2009

Letter about PM Netanyahu’s speech

Letter to the Daily Mail Editor: Jewish Settlements

Haaretz: Journalistic ethics and integrity

Low Editorial Standards at The Independent

Letter to the Editor about "Zionist control of the British media" - the old British anti-Semitism spectre

Anti-Zionism: Age-old hatred in a modern dress....

GAZA CEASE-FIRE – Will the Muslim leadership keep its word?

To the NYT: Humanitarian Aid to Gaza by Israel – Enough or not?

20 January 2009

Denmark, Israel, compensations for damages, Hamas

When a nation support and finance projects in areas taken over by international terrorist that we are even fighting on different frontiers - you are taking certain risks....

A Grave Case of War Crimes

Take A Pen demands from the UN SG Ban Ki-moon to bring Hamas leaders to international trial for grave war crimes as defined by international law.
A failure to prosecute the Hamas leadership in an international court will lead to its war crimes becoming normative behavior, resulting in millions of victims of oppression and killings undefended by the UN...

Ridiculous comparison of Gaza with the Warsaw Ghetto

Letter on GAZA by British dignitaries in Guardian

Israel's Active Defense - Disproportionate?

For your convenience, you may use the following sample letter to Editor about Israel''s active defense in Gaza.
The letter contains the main discussion points raised in our Letter Writing Call but you can of course use more/less of them as you see fit.

New Ways to Release Gilad (or: Hamas War Crimes against Gilad)

Don’t Underestimate Iran’s Threats - Sample Letter

Whenever you read about Iran’s or Ahmadinejad’s threats being down-played, write your own Letter to the Editor, of the:
The New York or the Los Angeles Times / TIME or Newsweek Magazine /
The TIMES of London, DIE ZEIT, Le Monde, Dagbladet or ANY, or to YOUR Own Newspaper:

Understanding Ahmadinejad

Letter to the Editor about Iran - Sample 2: actual letter to TIME Magazine

IHT Publishes AJC Letter on Israel Editorial

ISRAEL''S SEARCH FOR PEACE
by David Harris, AJC
International Herald Tribune, August 19, 2008

The editorial "The perils of an Israeli transition" (Aug. 19) fell short of the mark on several points.
First, it underestimates Israel''s deep yearning for peace. The Israeli government of the day, as well as the vast majority of the population, do not need to be “pressured" to seek peace or support a two-state solution. Having lived without full peace for 60 years, they...

Letter to Haaretz Editor: MISLEADING TITLE

...Your headline is indeed misleading, unduly inciting hatred, as demonstrated by many talkbacks. It deserves your honest expressed correction.

Letter in Wall Street Journal about the Al-Durra forgery

When meeting history in our own lives we normally mistake it for everyday turmoil. Some even say history can''t be recognized at all when it happens, only decades later. Special kudos to the Journal for recognizing that the al-Durra story, and the recent Paris verdict showing it''s a forgery, are of historic significance.

Apology for al-Dura broadcast

Dear Sir: Today the French Court ruled that “France 2 broadcast a fake news report; that [al-Dura''s shooting] was a staged hoax and that they duped everybody - without being sued”.

Appeasement of Evil

Sir, Jimmy Carter is not as “adored abroad” as Bronwen Maddox supposes (Times). His unsubstantiated tally of Israel’s defensive nuclear capacity (in a sea of external threats to its existence) is no more likely to be accurate than his description of that country as an “apartheid state.” This dangerous nonsense defiles - not defines - the region’s only nation where all colours and faiths enjoy freedom and legal equality - even women...

Revival of global pro-Israel spirit

Revival of global pro-Israel spirit?! Yes, I am not drunk. I remember when for decades the whole progressive world hilariously celebrated pioneer Israel; supported its Exodus, respected Israel’s courage in front of threats and aggressions - in wars and ‘Entebbes’, came to kibbutz, learned here to make deserts flourish, voted for Israel in Eurovisions and beauty contests, sang “Hava-na-gila” and more...

”Not a single frame supports France 2’s view that Israeli soldiers killed the Al-Durra boy”

Sir, - Re: "Outcry raised over missing minutes in al-Dura film"(Nov.19): It is commendable that the Post is covering this case, which has suffered from insufficient media attention. But I disliked the tone of this article, which repeatedly generalized supporters of Philippe Karsenty''s views such as myself as ''crying foul'', as if this were a football match.

The International Herald Tribune doesn’t support free speech

"150 Civilian Rocket Victims in Germany"
Thanks God this title is not true. But it will help us to understand the situation in Gaza, after the article "End Gaza sanctions" (Dec. 14) misleads readers both by untruths and crucial omissions.

Life 9 Miles from the Mediterranean Sea

So you see, life is not so simple when you live in a country that is only 9 miles wide. What would you do if it were you or your children they were coming to blow up?

The BBC Continues Distorted Reporting.

Covers up to Terrorist Hamas - Biased against Israel
Read factual analysis in Reader’s Letter, by Rona HART, January 15, 2008

2503 kids not going to school in Sderot and Gaza

Sir, - Re: "Sderot kids to stay away from schools..." (Shelly Paz, Y. Katz, Sep.3): It is commendable you remind Israel and the world that 2500 schoolchildren in Sderot are targeted daily by Hamas terrorist rockets from Gaza since it was evacuated by Israel two years ago.
I can not avoid integrating this article with the very different coverage of the same issue by BBC...

One more Letter about one more BBC Bias

Also (I apologise for not mentioning this in my earlier email), there was a significant snub recently by the BBC to a group which was campaigning for the release of Gilad Shalit, Ehud Goldwasser, Eldad Regev and other Israeli soldiers illegally detained by Hamas, Hizbullah and other terrorist organisations. The group approached the BBC to ask if Alan Johnston could be made available to comment and to add his voice to theirs and request their immediate release. The BBC refused, saying "such an action would compromise their objectivity...

Let fair reporting and truth have a front seat

In just eighty five words Lauren Booth (Mail on Sunday 22nd.July) shows off her two talents admirably. First to display an imagination beyond compare and secondly as someone able to express in an easy to read and convincing manner her somewhat warped mind...

‘UNDERSTANDING For Suicide Killers; Less For Their Victims’

Andrew Alexander (June 22) shows understanding for suicide bombers who kill Israeli families in school buses, cafes and shopping areas, but little for their victims.
My own understanding comes from studying evidence that Palestinians are taught hatred from nursery school onwards, with atlases that obliterate Israel and textbooks that demonise Jews...

CONFRONTING' IS NOT 'JOINING

(Sir) Both the headline and the item "Israel Joins in Gaza Violence," (May 17) are misleading. Israel has no reason to "join in" the factional street-fighting going on there. Fatah and Hamas terrorists are murdering each other and their families, the much-trumpeted recent Saudi-brokered "pact" between them has proven counterfeit and there is little law and less order...

New Evidence that British Journalism is Biased

During my week-long stay in London I treated myself with reading The Times. I did not always agree with what I read but I always appreciated your sincere strive for balance. Unfortunately it is not the case with much of the mainstream British press today.

I am responding here to all your writings about the NUJ decision to boycott Israel, including your commendable disapproval of this decision. Regarding this I raise if I may a crucial ethical issue of British journalism as a whole...

Baroness Tonge's unfounded accusations of Israel may have deserved for her to be disciplined again..

Sir, In February, Baroness Tonge accused the Israeli army of breaking into a Palestinian school at Abu Dis in the West Bank to "beat up" the boys. Accepting the allegation unquestioningly, she demanded "pressure" on the Israeli government to investigate.
As Lady Tonge''s colleague Lord Steinberg reported, their Foreign Ministry (unpressurised) looked into the case and the army''s report found no units near Abu Dis. Nor were the Border Police involved...

Israel wants to meet Arabs in sport

Sir: Jack Downey in his letter (15 March) chides Israel for not joining its enemies on the sports pitch. Israel has always been willing to play against Arab nations; the problem comes from the other side. Arab states will not permit their teams to compete against Israel...

The Mail revealed the true picture - vs. the reports by the Archbishop of Canterbury and the BBC TV News from Betlehem

(Sir,) Goodwill at this season apparently does not extend to Israel, to judge by the Archbishop of Canterbury and the BBC TV News report (December 21) of his visit to Palestinian Bethlehem. The BBC blamed Israel and its anti-terrorism barrier for a fall in seasonal visitors and for the declining Christian Arab population, without giving any testimony from Christian gainsayers. In the Catholic newspaper The Tablet, meanwhile, the Archbishop, slating Israel, called Bethlehem''s Christians "a beleaguered community" and queried whether Israel considered them "an embarrassment." ...

to Haaretz: "Get rid of Gideon Levy"

Read here three Readers’ Letters to Haaretz, responding to Gideon Levy''s "Whose government is this?" of 15 April 2008

Britons to Iranian Holocaust Conference!

Published in The Guardian, at: http://www.guardian.co.uk/letters/story/0,,1965776,00.html and scroll down to the second letter.
The original letter as sent to The Guardian was this: (you can compare with the edited version): ..

Muslim Grievances

Muslim Azam Nizamuddin has the breathtaking hypocrisy ( 9/8/06) to criticize German public officials for not condemning Nazi anti-Semitism. The Muslim''s are currently the world''s most anti-Semite group, and many of them want to see Israel wiped off the face of the earth...

WATCH OUT for 'Human Rights Watch' and 'Amnesty' !

A critic''s first duty is to get his facts right
I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Roth''s statement "A critic''s first duty is to get his facts right" ‘Roth''s False God'' (NY Sun August 23). It is particularly appropriate as it is HRW''s failure to separate fact from conjecture that gives rise to the severe criticism that has unfortunately diminished the stature of this very important humanitarian organization...

Letter to HAARETZ : Who Killed the Arab girl?

Letter to HAARETZ : Who Killed the Arab girl?

To HAARETZ: Arafat's heritage

How interesting that in describing Yasser Arafat, the writers didn''t mention that he was the "grandfather of modern-day terrorism." In addition, Arafat was not a Palestinian. He was born in Egypt and hijacked the Palestinians, just as he did airplanes...

Testament of Youth

Having just read Rafael Behr''s jaundiced view of an Israel he claims has "a stake in his identity" which he says is being held hostage there, I just wonder if he visited the same country I have just returned from...

There's no alternative to Israeli"wall"

On the matter of the hardships suffered by Palestinians due to Israel''s new
security "wall" I believe it is only right that people in Ireland hear about
their loss of land or the demolition of their houses due to the building of
the wall, and the suffering which ordinary Palestinians have endured due to
the current phase of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict (Living in the shadow
of the wall, Letters, November 1)...

To Haaretz: On the ethics of the IDF -Tzahal

Whenever Haaretz or others skirmish IDF with unfounded accusations write such a letter:

To Haaretz: Hass helps PA pick foreign taxpayers' pockets

While everyone''s attention is focused elsewhere, Ha''aretz allows Amira Hass to smear Israel by repeating Palestinian propaganda as fact.
Hass baldly states as fact that attachment of funds by Israeli courts that are hearing several lawsuits claiming damages against the PA "are largely responsible for a severe budget crisis in the PA."

BOYCOTT OF ISRAELI COLLEGES

Madam, - In a controversial debate that has received little attention over here, the UK Association of University Teachers (AUT) on April 22nd passed a motion at a national AUT council meeting to boycott both Haifa and Bar ILAN universities...

Balance your reporting on the Cease-Fire!

This morning Sky repeatedly reported that Israel continued to bomb Lebanon until the last moment before the cease fire came into effect. Not a word was said about the missiles fired by Hezbollah into Israel until the last moment...

Why did Haaretz Report in Favor of ISM Peace Activist?

Why did you report in favor of ISM member Anne Robinson-Peter, a self-appointed peace-activist, detained last week at Ben Gurion airport?

Wishful thinking at Haaretz

Last Sunday you published a strange item showing 3 Border Police, one of whom is pointing. They are seemingly at ease...

Bush-bashing is not enough for understanding Ahmadinejad

Klein''s main argument why we should not think Ahmadinejad being another Hitler is that neoconservatives think so.

Klein declares already in the subtitle, without any argumentation, in a way which would fit better good old Stalinist or McCarthyist times than our time and your TIME, that who thinks differently from him is ‘dishonest''. (And later also: ‘foolish'', ‘disingenuous with lethal intent'' and ‘plumps for war'')...

Reader’s Letter to the Los Angeles Times

"Want electricity? Stop the rockets" (Benny Morris, Sep. 22): It is commendable that you inform that Israel''s intention to define Gaza Strip as "hostile territory" and the electricity limitation threat are not intended to hurt Gaza inhabitants but to stop Hamas inspired daily Palestinian rocket attacks against Israeli civilians...

A call for Responsible Journalism

The otherwise informative front-page report by Lily Galili "The left won''t be held hostage by the Likud" (Haaretz May 16) is vitiated by the same inexcusable offense as the London Daily Mirror''s printing of a fake picture. That the Mirror''s editor, Piers Morgan, believed the facts were true was not accepted in mitigation and he was summarily fired because he
failed to check the authenticity of information he was providing...

Does IDF deliberately kill civilians?

Does IDF deliberately kill civilians? Amira Hass''s "One step ahead of the bulldozer" (May 21) strongly suggests ''Yes'' and when ''Israel''s leading newspaper'' tells the world that IDF intends to kill civilians, why shouldn''t they believe? Europeans wouldn''t go so far based on Palestinian sources. They may remember how Saeb Erekat lied that 520 Palestinian civilians were massacred in Jenin, while UN''s committee found 52 killed, out of them 47 young male combatants...

Viewer's Letter to The BBC, Sky News, CNN and IBA

The repetitive scenes you are showing of the violence in Jerusalem are dramatic but not very informative. How are your viewers expected to evaluate the contradictory claims made by the Israeli police spokesperson and the angry political statements by the several Palestinian commentators who are interviewed.?

Has Barghouti deserved your good PR service?

Has Barghouti deserved your good PR service?
In Haaretz of May 21, you reported that that Barghouti had been found guilty of 5 murders by a panel of three judges. In tens of additional murders he was involved as leader of a terror organization. Yet none of these proven crimes seem to deter Ha''aretz from treating him as a hero, with a large smiling front page, picture in victory pose. At first I thought this was simply a mistaken choice of photo, but the prominent title: "Jail was a good carrier move for Marwan" convinced me that the choice was intentional...

To the JPost: "Our long September 11" - The Terrorist's Intefada

21 March 2004
Hard as it is to cope with sophisticated lies of enemies and misunderstandings of observers, it is much harder when Israelis and Jews attack us, and hardest, almost hopeless to counter when the Palestinian rhetoric is used and spread by benevolent and trustworthy Israelis like you.
