To the Jpost: The truth about Goldstone is even worse
Re: Rebuttal to the Goldstone Report – the terrorists’ Magna Carta’ (Daniel Friedmann, Oct.30)
Friedmann's criticism is very serious but the truth about the Goldstone report is even worse, as the following corrections and additions may add to prove.
The article's ' The mission's general approach' says : "...Israel submitted ... photographic evidence showing the launching of rockets from within or near residential buildings, schools, mosques and hospitals". In fact, it wasn't Israel - we know Israel didn't cooperate with Goldstone. The subject IDF aerial photographs were submitted by the undersigned, on behalf of the independent international Take-A-Pen organization. These photos - still on http://www.takeapen.org/ - show extremely high coincidence rate between locations of rocket launches and schools, but were ignored by Goldstone. Not because the info was incomplete: we offered to acquire for him any complementary information needed. The real reason of the omission is that acknowledging Hamas' systematic use of Protected Sites as Human Shields would change their major conclusions: it would explain that Hamas, not Israel , is responsible for most Palestinian civilian casualties, and undermine Goldstone's most damaging fabrication, about IDF deliberately hitting Palestinian civilians.
Two further examples support Friedmann's claim that pro-Israeli evidence was systematically ignored: (1) Dr. Mirela Siderer, badly injured by a rocket launched from Gaza, complained before the UN HRC Plenary meeting that Goldstone "forgot" her testimony and mislead her. (2) An exceptionally knowledgeable individual, Maurice Ostroff, submitted a library of well-researched material - what Goldstone appreciated in their extensive correspondence, but ignored in his Report.
