Journalistic Standards
The Society of Professional Journalists' standards for ethics require, among other things, that good journalism make a clear distinction between news and views. When the views of the writers and/or the editors of the paper are presented as if news - it is bad journalism.
These standards also require that headlines do not misrepresent the content of the article or oversimplify the case out of context.
